About the lecturer
Lucia Hau-Yoon holds a Masters Degree in Education (Didactics) and has specialised in teaching Chinese as a second or foreign language and in promoting an awareness of and appreciation for Chinese culture.
Apart from publishing a textbook and developing numerous multimedia learning aids, she has run intensive language training and acculturation courses for diplomats, business people, missionaries and students.
While lecturing at the University of South Africa, her particular field of expertise was the development of methods to improve language teaching at a distance. Mrs Hau-Yoon is a sworn court translator and has provided simultaneous interpretation at international conferences. She has served as an external examiner for Chinese language courses at university level.
